OCD Chef

I think this cutting board is great! It was created for the ocd chef, thus the measurement lines and grids. I wouldn't consider myself this ocd, but I do enjoy having my veggies cut a certain way. Everyone has their preferences and ways of doing things. When my husband and I moved in together and starting cooking meals I couldn't stand the way he chopped vegetables! Ridiculous, I know, but it frustrated me to no end. He chopped them too large and in odd shapes. If I would have known about this cutting board then, we definitely would have purchased one. Luckily my husband is adaptable and now he cuts things to my standards. Love.

Old Photo Thursday

Ahhh Bob Marley. I actually took this picture off facebook this morning. It seems as though another friend of mine has a liking for Mr. Marley. I was introduced to Bob Marley by my father when I was younger. The tunes were so happy and easy to sing along with that he was played quite often in our house. I enjoy this picture of him looking so relaxed and chilled out. It makes me want to sit on a beach somewhere and watch him strum his guitar while he sings.

Fall Wedding

(source)

I am going to a wedding this weekend which has got me thinking about what to wear. Fall weddings are great, but I am always stuck when it comes to getting dressed. Do I go for something comfortable, warm, fashionable...and then of course there is the black-tie fall wedding. Another thing to take into consideration is if the wedding is outside or inside. Above are some possibilities for the casual or the black-tie fall wedding. Once you get over the stipulations a lot of fun can be had!

Stylestalker

I absolutely adore this shirt. I am drawn to any kind of shirt with an open back. I especially enjoy the tuxedo formal yet casual look of this shirt. It comes from a clothing line that I have never heard of called Stylestalker. What fun! Original names make me want to clap my hands with satisfaction. They are based out of Australia and have some really interesting stuff.

Bathrooms!

I am a huge fan of bathrooms. I know that you don't actually spend that much time in the bathroom, but a good looking bathroom is a big thing. It's like they say, "The kitchen and the bathroom make a house". If you don't have a good kitchen and bathroom, then it brings the whole house down. I think framed pictures and fun wall paper can really transform a bathroom from boring to conversation worthy. I especially like the world map bathroom above.

Fall Trend: Maxiskirt

Now that we're almost into November, fall temperatures have finally hit DC. Brr! At least we have pretty trees to look at...and great things like maxiskirts! I love the maxiskirt fall trend. Not only are they comfortable, but they are long and come in great colors. I love the one above matched with a jean jacket. ...And if you are like me, you can wear tights underneath for the secret added warmth.

Flattened bottle platter

These flattened bottle platters are so cool. You can use them for cheese and fruit or so many other things. Not only do they look really neat, but they are a good use of a used wine bottle. If you look for them on Etsy.com you'll find all sorts of neat looking flattened bottle platters.

Old Photo Thursday

This old photograph is great! Two Girls Waffle House doesn't look like such a happening place in this picture, but who knows... The picture was taken in Anchorage, Alaska in the early 1900s. I am just proud to see two woman running and owning a business at that time and place. I wish I was there to try their waffles!

Halloween Stripes

(source)

These a just a few striped finds on Etsy.com that could be made into Halloween costumes. I love the creativity on Etsy, you can find just about anything. I think these striped numbers have huge potential. I may just use one myself.

Wallpaper by Prada

Flordid Wallpaper

New Masters Wallpaper

Almost Blue Wallpaper

(source)

Prada makes wallpaper, who'd have guessed it! I think they display it in their NYC store. It is quite different and original. Upon first glance of their designs I was not a fan, after looking at it longer though I really began enjoying it. Unfortunately I don't think you can buy the wallpaper. Maybe eventually you will be able to, but I'm sure it will be pricey stuff.

Feet tattoo

Now this is a creative tattoo! I wish I knew what the bottom of the tattoo said down around the heels. One can only imagine it is a quote about wandering or traveling. If my feet weren't so ticklish I may just consider getting something like this done.

Cherpumple Cake

This incredible cake is called a Cherpumple cake. I cannot believe such a thing exists! I am both entertained and disgusted by it. I am mostly curious though. This cake onsists of 3 stacked layers - traditionally a cherry pie baked into a chocolate cake, a pumpkin pie in a spice cake, and an apple pie in a yellow cake then covered in frosting. Wow, just wow! If you click on the source above you can learn how to make this cake.

Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera

Oh technology these days! Check out this short video about the Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera. You throw it in the air and it captures everything around you. Now it's not practical for a lot of point and shoot situations, but it could come in handy for many other things.

Casual Friday

It's a casual kind of Friday. This outfit seems perfect for October, although I'd wear this tux dress in a gray rather than white. It is not yet cold out, but it is definitely cooling down. A longer sleeve in a lighter fabric is perfect along with boots. So comfy, I'm loving it.

Sunny Days

This is a photo that I took while on vacation last week. Perfection in a day. It is the pictures of this vacation that are going to get me through the winter here in DC. I am a sunny warm weather type of person. In that weather you will find me at my best, but for now looking at the pictures will have to do. Enjoy, I hope this will brighten your day a little.

Recycled trash collector

I love this, I want one! It is a metal frame that you can put paper bags into, you fill the bag with recyclables or trash, then take it to the trash. It saves on using plastic and it gives you something to use paper bags for. What I especially like is that the bag stays shut until you step on a spring at the bottom which opens the bag. Genius! It is called the Ex and Hopp Rubbish Collector.

Ear Tattoos

"Where's Waldo, he's right EAR!" Haha, so silly.

This tattoo is "in one ear, out the other".

These ear tattoos were too funny not to share. I have a few small tattoos myself, but would never think to get one behind my ear. Tattoo creativity will always intrigue me.

Old Photo Thursday

Ahhh the roaring 20s. I often think that if I could live in any decade it would be this one. This is a photograph of Miss Sigrid Holmquist, but there is no story, only a photo. She looks quite glamorous with that cigarette and hat though. Who knows where she is going or why she is posing for this photograph...

Osani circle game

This touched my heart, I had to share it.

Taken from: http://www.connectingdotz.com/osani-circle-game.html

EfĂ© children of the Ituri Forest in Zaire (Rep. of Congo, central Africa) begin the Osani game by sitting in a circle, feet touching, all connected. Each child in turn names a round object like the sun (oi), the moon (tiba), a star (bibi) an eye (ue) and then goes on to name a figurative expression of “round” like the circle of the family, togetherness, a baby in the womb, or the cycle of the moon. As players fail to come up with a term that is “circular” they are eliminated from the game. Eventually, only one remains. Tradition has it that this player will live a long and prosperous life.

Fainting couch

Check out this super cute vintage fainting couch. I have always been a fan of old fainting couches and chase lounges, and the fact that this one is mustard colored makes it all the more better. I think this would look great in front of a large window. Or, if I had the skill of a reupholster I would put some new fabric on this bad boy. Alas, for now I will just admire it online. Oh, and get this...it is for sale on ebay for only $275! That's a steal of a vintage piece in my books.

Bathroom entertainment

They think of everything don't they? This handy dandy ipod music player and toilet paper dispenser is put out by icarta. It is an ipod dock with four speakers so that you can listen to your favorite tunes while using the toilet. It also dispenses toilet paper because we all know that you can't just sit on the toilet and listen to music all day....or can you? This item runs for about $100 and may just make the list for what to get your guy for Christmas.

Fall Trend: Red

Fall is in full swing these days. I flew into DC a few days ago and had a lovely view of the colorful tree-tops. From the ground the trees are mostly green, but from the air they are yellow, orange and red! Speaking of red, this color is a fall fashion trend. I see it everywhere! From pants to lips, red is the color to show this season. Whether it is a full blown red outfit or just a piece of red, you are bound to look great and maybe match a tree eventually.

Freedom Sculpture

"The moment you can visualize being free from the things that hold you back, you have indeed begun to set yourself free."---Unknown

I saw this sculpture online this morning and felt compelled to post it. I love the final burst out of the sculpture, it is just so happy to be free! Here's to a freedom felt week!

The Rainbow House

I saw this little film a while ago, but just saw it again recently. This is such a fun house! Almost like an amusement park. The artist of the house is Richard Woods for architect Ab Rogers. Apparently the house can be rented but it will cost you a whopping £15,000 a month...or about $24,000. Now that's a vacation home.

Non-Conventional Rain boot

The non-conventional rain boot

Last week I posted some of my favorite rain boots. This week luckily it has stopped raining!! But I still wanted to post some of the other rain boots that I found in my search last week. These were my favorites of the non-conventional type. They are definitely interesting and although I would smile if I saw someone walk buy wearing any of these, I don't think I could pull off wearing most of these myself.

Wooden texture

British furniture maker, John Makepeace, is best known for his nature inspired designs. I love all the texture that goes into his woodwork. The chair above almost looks like it was made of plastic, and the dresser just looks like a carved block of wood. I can hardly take it! I also love this guys name. I'd hope that he would do something for the world with a name like that!

Hobbit House

This man created and built this woodland-home. He wanted to do something sustainable and affordable. His total costs were around $6,000, but he also put in about 5 months of solid every-day work. His results are beautiful though. Not only does he have a fun little house for his family, but it was affordable and an has little to no impact on the environment.

Negative space artwork

Noma Bar: Cut It Out

Noma Bar is an Israeli graphic designer who loves negative space. He enjoys creating pictures with negative space that is not actually negative space, but another picture. So what do you see above, a strong man, or boxing gloves? The link above goes to an interesting little film about his most recent project.
